136 - Using Economic Impact Data to Tell Your Agency's Park & Recreation Story

Tuesday, September 26
2:35 PM–3:50 PM

Location: Room 207

Days: Tuesday, 26 September
Track: Leadership & Management
Session Type: Education Session

Parks and recreation agencies have become adept at describing the economic value their activities bring to the community. Many agencies have commissioned economic impact analyses or used NRPA's research products to better communicate their value to local leaders. However, there have been much fewer efforts that explicitly examine the contribution of park and recreation activities to local economic development, in particular business attraction and retention. Local quality of life is now among the top considerations for executives choosing where to locate their corporate facilities. This interactive session will explore how local park and recreation agencies can be integrated into local economic development planning and will serve as the kick-off for a new NRPA research initiative.
