Does your agency send camps to the pool? Are you the person welcoming them to your aquatic facility? Either way, this is the most dangerous activity that your campers will engage in. Learn how to make an aquatic outing as safe as possible. Participants will be given practical tools to inspect facilities, ways to prepare excited campers to swim safely, counselor training guidelines, and what to expect from an aquatic facility, staff and experience.

Learning Outcomes:
Review drowning statistics and recent drowning incidents, highlighting risks for aquatic camps.
Examine possible safety protocols both before and during camp aquatic outings. Includes discussion of swim tests, lifejackets, camp counselor training and aquatic facility management.
Review provided handouts and supplemental material to create individual safety measures and camp protocols to ensure a healthy aquatic activity.
