Inclusivity with respect to accessibility should be a primary focus throughout all stages of an aquatic play space project. This session will provide an overview and discussion of the core principles of inclusive aquatic play: ADA compliance, splash pad safety, and designing rewarding play experiences for users of all ages and abilities. The latter half of this session will engage participants in a live splash pad design tutorial that demonstrates the unique principles of inclusive aquatic play.

Learning Outcomes:
Apply principles required to prepare for the implementation of an ADA compliant splash pad and use appropriate play features to ensure mutually stimulating play experiences are achieved.
Explain the perception and awareness of safety and risk in the aquatic play environment, and demonstrate how aquatic play feature design deters structural climbing.
Demonstrate the overall knowledge of inclusive play experiences based on accessibility, interaction and overall usability of a splash pad for all age groups and diversely abled individuals.
